Rachel’s QEST scholarship enabled her to enroll in two courses at the world-renowned Richemont Bakery School in Luzerne, Switzerland where she was trained in Patisserie, Desserts and Cakes, and Pralines and Chocolate Specialties. Following her training she worked for Park Cake Bakery as a concept development technologist and proceeded to create a cake for the Queen Mother when invited for tea at Clarence House. The same year she won the National Student Baker of the Year and was part of the winning team at Bake 95 UK Bakers of the Future competition
Rachel Shaw is now based in the Peak District and has her very own successful bakery and celebration cake business. QEST has enabled Rachel to develop her skills in order for her to progress within the industry.
Having just returned from demonstrating in Canada, Rachel is hoping to concentrate on progressing the business, and has just taken on more staff to cope with the increase in demand for her cakes. Rachel expresses that she would love to write books in the future and to continue to grow the business.
