Steve came to furniture making through an art and restoration background and trained at the Building Crafts College in London.
The scholarship allowed him to work alongside Bog Oak specialist Hamish Low successfully converting the 5000 year old Diamond Jubilee Fenland Black Oak and understanding how to work this rare native timber.
Since the scholarship he has been setting up a workshop in East London to allow affordable professional facilities for young makers. Opened in April, WorkshopEast assists 7 woodworkers and 2 stonemasons continue their practice.
Steve designs and makes fine furniture and objects in wood to commission for private clients, public bodies, museums and art galleries. He continues to work on the Black Oak project.
