QEST supported Hannah during her MPhil Textile Conservation course at the Textile Conservation Centre, University of Glasgow (CTC). Prior to this she had completed a Diploma in Art and Design and graduated from Wimbledon College of Art (UAL) with a First Class degree in Costume Interpretation. The CTC is the only course in the UK specialising in the conservation of textile objects, and included work placements at Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto and The Burrell Collection, Glasgow.
Hannah has since worked at Historic Royal Palaces, London; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and KIK-IRPA, Brussels, as well as spending time as a freelancer. She is currently a textile conservator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. While she has an interest in all textiles her main loves are tapestry, 18th-century costume and knitted objects.
Hannah contributes to the work of the UK Institute of Conservation by serving on the Textile Group committee. She also teaching knitting lessons from her home in South-East London. In 2022 she appeared on “Secrets of the Museum” (Blast/BBC).
