Ramón is a self-taught sculptor dedicated to pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpture. Formerly an architect in Mexico, he discovered his passion for sculpture during the COVID-19 lockdown and has since devoted himself to this new artistic path. His work, which explores the human figure as a medium for emotional expression and self-discovery, employs various materials including bronze, resins, clays, and terracotta.
With the support of QEST funding, Ramón aspires to take his sculpture even further. A QEST Scholarship will allow him to pursue an MA in Fine Art: Sculpture at the University of the Arts London, where he plans to master innovative sculptural techniques.
Ramón aims to develop sustainable materials and methods that challenge traditional artistic boundaries, incorporating natural elements like plants, fungi, and bacteria into his work.
His long-term goal is to create work that is not only visually captivating but also prompts discussions on environmental responsibility and sustainability. Moreover, he envisions his materials being applicable in various fields such as fashion and construction, improving how we create art and interact with our planet.
