Tom Vaughan is founder of Object Studio, a London-based design and manufacture team who combine traditional craftmanship techniques with contemporary design and processes to create beautiful, sculptural furniture and objects.
Originally trained in cabinet making at the London College of Furniture and having studied 3D design at the University of Brighton and product design at the Royal College of Art, it was at the RCA studying under Ron Arad that Tom’s interest in converging traditional and contemporary was born.
With a 2018 QEST Howdens Scholarship, Tom investigated the casting of metals and the surrounding crafts; pattern making, sand and investment casting, welding, chasing, finishing and the patination of metals.
Max Jacquard’s glass practice began by producing ranges of loosely functional vessel forms and light objects for galleries in 1990. Over time his work has focused on glass sculpture, large-scale architectural projects and bespoke commissions. He has established a strong reputation for innovation both in technique and concept that makes his work distinctive and unique.
Max’s studio recently designed and cast an installation for the Queen’s Garden at the Tower of London, his glass can be found through the Charles Burnand Gallery in London and his work resides in collections around the world including the V&A London, UK, the the MAVA Museum in Alcorcon, Madrid and the Shanghai Museum of Glass.
