Alan Partridge is one of a handful of dedicated shallot makers, making a highly specialised brass component for the pipe organ industry
In 2007, Alan was granted a £7,200 Scholarship to master the highly specialized craft of making reed shallots for pipe organs. Alan’s mentor, Robin Stannard, was the only surviving maker of organ shallots, but could no longer practice due to illness.
Alan has a well equipped workshop, bringing the highest of fabrication standards to this ancient craft. He has supplied shallots worldwide, including the USA, Australia, Holland, Germany, Ireland, and the UK.
The pipe organ industry is now experiencing a period of growth and Alan is supplying shallots to some prestigious churches, cathedrals and public buildings worldwide.
