Emily has just come to the end of her MA in Illustration & Authorial Practice at Falmouth University. Here, she has been able to hone her binding skills and produce a series of theatrical narratives. She thinks of the book as a performance space, and in her work tries to make sure every page speaks to the last. She aims to create books which are sympathetic to their contents. The QEST Clothworkers' Company Scholarship has made a world of difference by contributing to her course fees, and allowed her to complete these important two years of practice and study.
After receiving her scholarship, Emily has hit the ground running with preparations for her final exhibition, which will show case bookbinding as an illustrative art form in it’s own right. She plans to stay in Falmouth and set up her own bookbinding studio.
