George received a QEST Scholarship which has enabled him to partake a second year at West Dean College of Arts & Conservation studying Historic Musical Instruments FdA. He has been making contemporary guitars utilising reclaimed materials since 2014, and he wanted to develop his traditional hand skills and knowledge of musical instruments by studying historic examples.
In his first year, George constructed a tenor viola da gamba under the tuition of QEST Scholar Shem Mackey which has helped him understand how musical instruments would have been crafted historically. During his second year he made an early 19th century guitar, along with two other instruments.
