LAURA WEST is a print specialist and award winning bookbinder based on the Isle of Skye, in Scotland. She specialises in producing hand bound books and stationery of exceptional quality – from bespoke single items to custom ordered limited editions. Her clients range from individuals to corporations and discretion is guaranteed as much of the work is for special or private occasions.
The QEST scholarship enabled Laura to complete her training with 3 specialists in bookbinding practice after she had received a First Class Honours degree in Bookbinding at Roehampton Institute in London.
Laura has gone on to exhibit widely across Scotland and the rest of the UK, including a long standing exhibit in The British Library. She has received numerous awards, including Balvenie Artisan of the Year (2005) and being shortlisted for The Modern Craft Project, sponsored by Wallpaper* magazine. Her work mainly involves commissions which include an element of printing, either as fine stationery books, bindings or portfolios or limited edition books, such as the current Centenary Edition of 'Ring of Bright Water' by Gavin Maxwell.
Laura's work can be seen at The Walton Street Stationery Company in Knightsbridge, where she continues to place newly developed designs for unique fine stationery binding. For consultations, commissions, or information on her courses, please contact her on: www.laurawest.com
