Mandeep Mann

2012 QEST Garfield Weston Foundation Scholar - Textile Design
West Yorkshire

Mandeep gained a BA in mixed media textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design and was awarded first prize in a collaborative project between Burberry and Christopher Bailey. As part of her award she was given a three-month paid internship with Burberry, working as part of the design team in the fabric and trim department.

A QEST Scholarship enabled Mandeep to gain an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art where she further specialised in Mixed Media Textile Design. In 2017 her work was selected to feature in The South Asian Design Show at Manchester Art Gallery UK.

She is currently a full-time lecturer at the University of Sharjah (College of Fine Arts and Design) teaching on the BA Fashion and Textiles Degree Programme. She is also Visiting Lecturer at Chelsea College of Art (Dubai) where she hosts, writes and delivers short courses and workshops specialising in Textile Design. She continues to work on her own textile design practice, selling bespoke pieces to private clients, including the Spanish fashion label Desigual.

My work seeks to explore cross-interdisciplinary areas of interior design and textiles. Merging two opposing qualities such as industrial/architectural materials like rubber with those that are typically textiles has been insightful and produced some pleasing results
