Siân Evans
Metal Work
Spring | 2004

Siân is a coppersmith from Hastings, who makes bowls, mirrors and vases, which she sells at shows and online. She also accepts private commissions. After an apprenticeship in the1990s, Siân took time out to raise a family, but in 2004 a QEST scholarship enabled her to return to her craft by funding a course at London Metropolitan University. She graduated in 2005 with an MA by Project (Metal).

Siân set up her own business in 2007 and went on to win Craft & Design Magazine’s Selected Awards in 2009, 2011 and 2014. In 2010 she appeared in Channel 4’s “Kirstie’s Homemade Home” and became a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellow in 2011 – visiting France, Greece and India to discover the origins of her ancient craft. She plans to develop her copperwork further with more research and writing.
