Thomas Merrett
Stone Work
Garfield Weston Foundation
Spring | 2014

Thomas Merrett is a London based sculptor. He originally trained as a stone carver and has worked on a number of important projects including carving for St Georges Chapel; Windsor. He recently received a QEST scholarship which allowed him to study figurative sculpture at the prestigious Florence Academy of Art. Whilst there Thomas had the opportunity to enhance skills in modelling the human figure and portrait in clay. Without the help of QEST Thomas would have been unable to travel to Florence and gain the invaluable experience and education received there.

Since his scholarship Thomas has been involved in a large architectural carving project in Chelsea, London. He also continues to work on his own sculpture, including portraits which he plans to exhibit next year.
