Cai Jia Eng

2008 QEST Scholar - 3D Paper Artistry

Cai Jia Eng is a London-based artist and designer.  She graduated with a BSc in Architecture from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL in 2006, before starting her own business creating intricate cut-out greetings cards and dioramas.

Her 2008 QEST Scholarship supported her in her Art Foundation Course at London College of Communication, from which she graduated with a Distinction and was awarded “Best in Show”.  During the course she gained more traditional Applied Arts skills to build on her practice with paper, including bookbinding and printmaking, and experience in magazine production.

She has exhibited and sold her illustrations and handmade books in London, Oxford, Edinburgh and Barcelona. Her line of greetings cards has retailed at Fortnum & Mason and been featured in a-n magazine and QEST magazine.

Alongside paper craft and illustration she has also since turned her attention to painting, and is now taking portraiture commissions.

Creativity can happen in any material and I am enjoying adding new techniques to my illustration and painting practice.
