Your Legacy

Their Future

A gift to QEST in your Will is a commitment to invest in the future of craft, helping talented makers develop their skills, build sustainable careers and continue the traditions that enrich our cultural life.

A legacy gift, of any size, can help future makers realise their potential. After providing for your family and loved ones, you may wish to consider making QEST part of your own lasting legacy.

Leaving a Gift in Your Will

Whether you are writing your first Will or updating an existing one, a solicitor can help ensure your wishes are carried out exactly as you intend.

Choosing Your Gift
Many supporters choose to leave either:
A share of their estate (a residuary gift) – This is a percentage of what remains after gifts to family, friends and other beneficiaries have been distributed. Because it reflects the value of your estate, it can be a flexible way to make a charitable gift while ensuring those closest to you are cared for first.

Suggested wording to include a residuary gift to QEST in your Will:
“the whole / [insert share as a %] share of my residuary estate absolutely to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the QEST’s Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge of my executor[’s][s’] duty.”

A fixed sum (a pecuniary gift) – This is a specific amount of money left for QEST. Some people choose to review this amount periodically, as inflation can affect its value over time.

Suggested wording for a pecuniary gift:
“I give to QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) (Registered Charity Number 1152032) of 1 Buckingham Place, London SW1E 6HR the sum of £[insert amount in figures] absolutely to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of QEST’s Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge of my executor[’s][s’] duty.”

As a registered charity, gifts left to QEST in a Will are generally exempt from UK Inheritance Tax. Your solicitor or financial adviser can explain how charitable gifts may benefit your estate and help you make the arrangements that are right for you.
