Chloé Valorso

2023 QEST William Parker Emerging Maker - Carving and engraving
London

Chloé is an artist jeweller and carver – her pieces act as amulets, empowering the wearer through their compelling symbolic qualities and deep sense of history.

She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and completed her MA at the Royal College of Art. With the help of QEST, Chloé is eager to deepen her knowledge in carving and learn new specialised skills applied to coral.

QEST funding will see Chloe embark on a training journey looking at coral in its entirety from its mythological origins to sustainable sourcing and innovative designs. Chloé will deepen her research on collected dead coral and its potential as a precious material. She will train with Jean Philippe Giordano in Corsica followed by hands-on carving and engraving cameos in Italy. While the third phase of her training involves an advanced class in stone carving with QEST Alumni Charlotte De Syllas.

Chloé’s long term-goal is to be an original voice in the contemporary jewellery field. She aims to inspire a reconnection to oneself, one another and the environment.

My sculptures for the body and for the home aim to inspire us to reconnect to ourselves, one another and our environment through materials and craft. Being a QEST Scholar will support me to be innovative both conceptually and technically while going on a coral adventure.
