Claire O’Flaherty

1991 QEST Scholar - Shoemaking

Claire’s QEST Scholarship enabled her to purchase equipment and complete her apprenticeship with John Lobb Ltd, by working with other shoemakers around the UK.

She taught at Cordwainer’s College in the 1990s when hand shoemaking was reintroduced to the curriculum.

Claire has since returned to live in Belfast where she has continued shoemaking, demonstrating her skills at the Ulster Folk Museum and working as a freelance shoemaker.
