Hannah is a textile conservator with experience in the conservation studios of the British Museum, Museum of London and the V&A. In 2016 she graduated from the Centre for Textile Conservation (CTC), where she conserved and researched a bloodstained military jacket from Annan Museum as her final project.
Hannah received QEST funding to conserve a rare and internationally important 8th century Chinese embroidery belonging to the British Museum. The funding enabled her to gain experience within the museum’s world-renowned conservation department, benefiting from training and access to state-of-the-art analytical equipment. Her work will allow the embroidery to be safely displayed in future and to go on loan to Nara Museum in Japan.
She has a particular interest in the history and conservation of knitted textiles; in 2016 she wrote her dissertation thesis on support techniques for historic knitting. Hannah designs and makes knitted garments in her spare time.
