Rachel Sawicki

2008 QEST Scholar - Book Conservation
Cambridgeshire

Rachel worked as an Assistant Conservation Technician at the Bodleian Library for three years before she undertook the Conservation MA at West Dean College, specialising in the conservation of books and library materials. A QEST Scholarship supported her during her studies.

After an internship with Chester Beatty Conservation, she worked as a book conservator for CBL, focusing on the conservation of Islamic manuscripts. A high point of her career was working with the Paper Conservation team at the National Library of Australia, where she gained experience conserving Indigenous collection material and works of art on paper.

Now back in the UK, Rachel is working as a Conservator within Cambridge University Library’s Conservation and Collection Care team.
