Sam received QEST funding to support his training as an apprentice farrier to Paul Horner FWCF BSc (Hons) in Somerset. Working alongside Paul, he gained a wealth of experience in many different aspects of farriery; from shoeing five star Event horses and Grand Prix Dressage horses, to working closely with vets on the remedial side of shoeing.
Having completed the apprenticeship, Sam is continuing to work part-time with Paul and spending the rest of his time back home in Shropshire where he is starting his own farriery business. He is keen to keep expanding his skills and aspires to complete the Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF) exam and one day become a Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
