Toby’s QEST Scholarship enabled him to undertake a bookbinding apprenticeship with master bookbinder Per-Anders Hübner in Halmstad, Sweden. This allowed him to develop his existing skills in paper conservation and after two years as an apprentice Toby passed a comprehensive test to become a bookbinding journeyman.
Now living in Stockholm, Toby worked for National Museum on their collection of drawings, prints and books before setting up his own company. In 2011 he won the Best Craft Binding Prize for his beautifully bound edition of Skägård in the Elizabeth Soutar Bookbinding Awards.
