Bookbinding workshop – Sewn Boards Binding with Gillian Stewart of Juju Books

Juju Books is opening up their studio for a very small number of places this summer, sharing some skills and creating beautiful books together.

A perfect chance to gather with a friend for a quiet evening, learning a new skill. Led by professional bookbinder and QEST Jenifer Emery Scholar Gillian Stewart, you’ll learn the skill of bookbinding, making a book by hand to take home with you! You’ll learn how to prepare the pages properly and sew your book together using a traditional bookbinding stitch, before making a bespoke personalised cover using hot foil techniques.

There will be an abundance of high-quality materials to choose from, and because you will be gathering in the studio you’ll have access to the full range of equipment, materials and tools. The Sewn Boards structure, developed by Gary Frost, is neat and precise method that’s perfect for sketchbooks. Hope to see you there!
