Colloquoy

The curators of Colloquy have this as the focus of the exhibition; to bring together a selected, culturally diverse group of accomplished metalsmiths form the UK and Canada, who have been encouraged to share ideas and skills from their individual practices. Exhibitors include QEST Scholar Rauni Higson.

Comprising a carefully chosen spectrum of metalsmiths, from jewellers making intimate works to silversmiths working in a variety of 3D forms, to makers creating intricate wall panels. What unites these artists is a passion for metal as well as their strong individual practices. Each of the selected artists demonstrates a unique aesthetic and conceptual grounding.

Metal is an immensely varied and expressive material, with many artists increasingly challenging the perceptions of the medium using technical innovation to break many long-standing rules whilst maintaining traditions in metalwork. The selected makers and artists are pushing the boundaries of contemporary metalsmithing practice, blurring the distinctions between sculpture, jewellery and installation.
