Join QEST’s first Zoom masterclass for 2025 where we will explore how you can practically enhance sustainability in your craft practice.
Hosted by QEST and Heritage Crafts, we will be joined by guest speakers and winners of the 2024 QEST and Heritage Crafts Sustainability Award – glass artist Allister Malcolm and jeweller and metalworker Rachael Colley.
Allister and Rachael will explore the ways they’ve reduced the environmental impact of their craft practice, how they’ve measured their success and how you can communicate your sustainability story effectively.

About Allister Malcolm
Based in Stourbridge Glass Museum in the West Midlands, Allister Malcolm is a celebrated glass artist with over 25 years of experience. Since April 2023, Allister has implemented significant changes to his practice, focusing on the reduction of energy consumption to reduce the workshops carbon footprint.
In 2024, Allister was named the Incremental Changes to Environmental Sustainability Winner of the QEST and Heritage Craft Sustainability Award.
About Rachael Colley
Rachael Colley is a jeweller, metalwork and 2021 QEST Howdens Scholar, whose innovative practice celebrates materials and making. Based in Sheffield, Rachael creates ambiguous artefacts that challenge one’s collective connections with food and communicates aspects of her lived experience with ASD and the autoimmune disease, systemic sclerosis.
In 2024, Rachael was named the Innovative Approaches to Environmental Sustainability Winner of the QEST and Heritage Craft Sustainability Award.
