Embroidered French Pear Brooch Workshop with Kate Pankhurst
July 1st 2022 @ 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
Royal School of Needlework (RSN) Tutor and QEST D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust Scholar Kate Pankhurst will be teaching this exclusive Stumpwork Pear Brooch class at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London to celebrate the RSN’s 150th anniversary and exhibition,  ‘150 Years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk’ (1 April – 4 September 2022).
The pear motif was inspired by an original Berlin Wool Work design from the RSN’s archives which will be on display at the exhibition and you will have a chance to view this and many other wonderful objects during the day.
Your French Pear Embroidered Brooch will be stitched in French knots on wired calico, with a buttonhole edge to complete the realistic pear and its leaf. When finished with the included brooch pin, it will be a charming lapel decoration that everyone will notice and admire.
Your RSN kit includes: DMC variegated stranded threads, paper-covered wire, calico fabric, a brooch pin, an instruction booklet and the needles required to stitch the design.
The class is suitable for all levels, although some embroidery experience would be helpful. The class cost includes all materials and your kit comprises everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and magnifiers if you need them but you will be able to borrow ring frames and scissors on the day.
This event includes entrance to the exhibition, ‘150 years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk’. You will be able to visit the exhibition at lunchtime and after the class until 6pm.
