Folding for Design with Kate Colin

This course is for anyone wishing to learn how to transform a sheet of paper into a range of three dimensional forms. It is advisable that participants have taken the ‘Introduction to Paper Folding’ class first, but not essential.

We won’t be making products in this class but you will learn a variety of techniques and designs which you can experiment with and apply to your own practice or discipline.

During the workshop you will be introduced to linear, diagonal and angular divisions, flat pleats, V pleats and folded parabolas.

We will also look briefly at the history of folding and at the work of several folding artists and examine how the art form is used in fashion, architecture and contemporary design.

On booking, you will be sent a kit in the post containing all the tools and materials you’ll require for the workshop

• The kit comes in a sturdy box and contains a collection of high quality tools, a fabric drawstring bag and enough pre-cut paper for all the exercises during the class (content may vary from the image)

• Workshop is suitable for beginners but it would be advisable to attend he ‘Introduction to Paper Folding’ Class first.

• Spaces limited to 10 people to allow time for individual discussion and interaction
