Formed with Future Heritage
October 10th 2022 - October 14th 2022
The world’s premier design centre is a champion of design talent and is delighted to give greater focus to the well-established Future Heritage, the forward-looking showcase of established and emerging makers curated by the influential design journalist and curator Corinne Julius. This exciting event will bring exceptional work by contemporary makers to the home of design and decoration including QEST Scholars Frances Priest, Leora Honeyman, Eleanor Lakelin and Hannah Tounsend. Alongside next-generation talent, limited edition pieces by independent makers have been brought together for the show.
Buying or commissioning a unique piece of craft has never been more appealing, and the show’s aim is to bridge the gap between makers and those seeking to buy or commission one-off pieces. In times of mass-production, craft provides an outlet for authenticity and meaning. Interior design plays a vital role in placing craft at the heart of homes, hotels, yachts and public spaces – supporting the careers of makers and exposing the wider world to the power and beauty of the handmade.
For the show, Corinne Julius has carefully selected the cutting-edge designers at the forefront of craft. Their work is intellectually thoughtful, expresses potent narratives and rigorously executed with makers pushing their chosen material or process in new directions. Work spans disciplines including ceramics, glass, metalwork, basketry and paper, to non-traditional materials such as mycelium. Many new pieces have been created especially for the event.
Seeing objects in person gives a true measure of the creativity and effort involved in their making. At Formed with Future Heritage, interior designers, architects, collectors and craft lovers can be the first to meet emerging makers and view their highly individual pieces.
