Heritage Crafts Open Day at Grandey’s Place
June 25th 2023 @ 10:00 am - 5:15 pm
FreeDive into the world of the UK’s finest crafters, makers and artists this summer at Grandey’s Place Heritage & Craft Centre Summer Open Day.
All are welcome to Grandey’s Place Summer Open Day – a free event taking place at the beautifully appointed studios and workshops located between the picturesque village of Much Hadham and the market town of Bishop’s Stortford. See some of the UK’s finest master craftspeople and artists – including many QEST Scholars – at work, and gain an insight into British craftsmanship.
Grandey’s Place was founded in 2019 to help sustain the UK’s heritage crafts by providing affordable workspaces for talented craftspeople. Now it’s home to a vibrant community of artists and makers specialising in areas such as stained glass making & restoration, letter carving, ceramics, mosaics, leatherwork, orchestral stringed instrument repair, millinery, traditional upholstery, corsetry, horology and more.
This is a non-ticketed event, however, if you are coming by car, please book a free parking spot in advance here. To ensure that as many people as possible can visit, Grandey’s Place are running three heritage craft sessions, with car parking slots available at 10.00-12.00, 12.30-14.30 and finally 15.00-17.00 (Grandey’s Place closes at 17.15). Please select one slot only – from experience, 2 hours is just right to visit Grandey’s Place and some “buffer time” has been built in before and after slots to enable you to arrive and leave at your own pace. Walkers and cyclists can just turn up any time – no need to book a thing! There will be light refreshments available for purchase on site during your visit.
