In Conversation: Jemma Gunning

Continuing their In Conversation series, Rue Pigalle will speak to printmaker Jemma Gunning about her work.

Derelict and abandoned industrial buildings are Jemma’s passion. Nothing fires up her imagination more than exploring these places where lives where lived, objects were made, industrial life took place. She sees herself as a cross between a historian and a story teller, using ink and paper as her medium to share moments in the life of others.

The intensive lithographic and etching processes add another dimension to her work, giving her the tools to add layers and layers of details and textures, like the layers of history that have been applied to the buildings over the centuries.
