Introduction to Blackwork: Winter Leaf with Kathryn Sanders

As the January chill sets in and we look forward to lighter evenings why not learn a new embroidery technique from the comfort of your own home? This introduction to Blackwork embroidery uses geometric patterns to create an attractive frosted leaf.
Suitable for beginners, this wintry design is created from a combination of Back and Double Running Stitch, with a little touch of sparkly Couching around the edge. Not only will you be guided through each of the stitches, but you will also learn ways to incorporate some simple shading.
This leaf is the second in a series of kits, each designed to introduce you to a different embroidery technique.
No prior experience is necessary for this class and there will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions. The kit will include all the materials required. However, for the class you will also need a 6” embroidery hoop and a pair of scissors
There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions and in advance of the class all preparation information will be emailed to you along with an invitation to join the class on the day.
Your Zoom link will be sent a minimum of 48 hours prior to the class and will be sent to the email address you booked the class with. If you do not receive it, check your junk mail to see if it is there and if you still do not have it then please email [email protected]
The class kit will be posted out to you. Your kit includes everything you need including a full colour, step by step instruction booklet. The only things you’ll need are an 6” ring frame and embroidery scissors. It would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes.

For UK and Europe bookings will close on Wednesday 12 January 2022 to allow for the kit to be posted out in time for the class.
