January 18th 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
£169During this Introduction to Goldwork class with QEST Scholar Auburn Claire Lucas, students will learn a number of metal thread embroidery techniques in order to create this fun and colourful design. First you will learn how to apply the felt padding in preparation for the metal threads to be worked on top. You will then learn how cut and use a variety of metallic threads such as Bright Check, Smooth Purl, Japanese Thread, Pearl Purl and metallic kid leather in order to practice Goldwork techniques like Chipping, Cutwork and Couching.
For a final flourish all the Balloons are tied together with a red ribbon.
There will be plenty of opportunity during the class to ask the Tutor questions and in advance of the class all preparation information will be emailed to you along with an invitation to join the class on the day.
The class kit will be posted out to you. Your kit includes everything you need including a full colour, step by step instruction booklet. The only things you’ll need are an 8” ring frame and embroidery scissors. It would be useful to have a pencil and paper in case you wish to take extra notes.
Please note: the class will take place over 3 consecutive weeks: Monday 18 & 25 January and Monday 1 February
For UK and Europe bookings will close on Monday 11 January to allow for the kit to be posted out in time for the class.
