Alis Le May is a bespoke tailor based in Glasgow. Her atelier combines heritage methods with couture techniques for tailoring, bridalwear and costume commissions. She sees herself as an advocate for true bespoke tailoring in a city where it has largely disappeared. She has a strong focus on sustainability, using natural fibres and local materials such as British wool.
Her QEST Scholarship will enable her to attend a course at the London Academy of Bespoke, strengthening her formal knowledge in drafting, proportion and fitting. As well as refining her cutting skills to develop a more systematic, efficient approach.
In 2025, she developed Clò na Tìre, a collection celebrating locally sourced, regenerative textiles that she would like to show at an event like London Craft Week or Pitti Uomo. She now wants to grow this strand of her business, under the name Camlachie Bespoke, and eventually move from a private studio to a public-facing shop. Through her business she also delivers community textile education and trains an apprentice.
