Anna Kettle

2001 QEST Scholar - Pargeting
Bedfordshire

Anna designs and models in lime plaster. This is an old English craft trade called pargeting, which can be anything from simple combed patterns on the outside of buildings through to freestanding creations in high relief.

Having worked as a plaster conservator, Anna wanted to broaden her skills to also design and model new work. Her QEST Scholarship allowed her to study marmorino in Venice – the same skill set as pargeting.

Lime plaster is a wonderful material to work with – it is malleable like clay so can be moulded into beautifully sensuous shapes. Once set it is weatherproof too!
