Beatrice Larkin

2012 QEST Iliffe Family Charitable Trust Scholar - Woven Textiles
London

Bea is a textile designer specialising in weave. She specialises in modern woven textiles, accessories and interior products. Taking inspiration from West African textiles, The Bauhaus, traditional weave structures and more, Bea then turns these sketches into jacquard weaves, playing with scale and repeat, focusing on the structure and design of the cloth in equal measure. Her products include her distinctive, softened geometric throws, cushions and hot water bottle covers.

Bea gained an MA in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art, where a QEST Scholarship supported her during her second year. After graduating she was part of the Craft Council’s Hot House Scheme for emerging makers, a recipient of the Cockpit Arts/Clothworkers Foundation Award 2014 and she set up her own business. She has since exhibited work at The Heals Modern Craft Market and the touring Rising Stars exhibition as well as spending six weeks teaching fashion and textiles at The International Institute of Fine Arts, India.
