Bronagh Murray

2024 QEST Broderers’ Company Emerging Maker - Embroidery
Lanarkshire

Bronagh is an Irish embroiderer based in Scotland. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, she currently works as a freelance hand embroiderer for international ateliers and fashion brands.

Bronagh’s QEST Emerging Maker Grant enabled her to undertake further study at the prestigious embroidery school École Lesage in Paris. Having already completed Advanced Levels 1 and 2 during a CHANEL / The King’s Foundation Fellowship, she used this funding to complete Levels 3 and 4. She learned over 50 specialised embroidery techniques used in the fashion industry. The training also emphasised high accuracy and speed — both essential to Bronagh’s development as a craftsperson.

Looking ahead, she hopes to gain further industry experience, expand her client base, and present her work at events such as Première Vision Paris. She is also passionate about promoting the value of supporting local artisans and hopes to inspire change within the industry.

QEST funding will allow me to continue my training in couture embroidery, allowing me to strengthen my craft and enable me to find more opportunities to work as a craftsperson fulltime.
