Bronagh Murray

2024 QEST Broderers’ Company Emerging Maker - Embroidery
Lanarkshire

Bronagh is an Irish embroiderer based in Scotland. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, Bronagh currently works as a freelance hand embroiderer for international Ateliers and fashion brands.

She is eager to develop her professional practice and refine her techniques to the highest quality possible.

Bronagh’s QEST Emerging Maker Grant will allow her to undertake further study at prestigious embroidery school Ecole Lesage in Paris. Having already completed Advanced Level 1-2 during a CHANEL/King’s Foundation Fellowship, Bronagh will use this funding to achieve Levels 3-4. She will learn more than 50 specialised embroidery techniques needed for the fashion industry. The training also places an emphasis on high accuracy and speed of work, which is an essential part of Bronagh’s development as a craftsperson.

Her hopes for the future are to gain more industry experience, expand her scope of clients and to present her work at an event such as Première Vision Paris. She is also passionate about promoting the benefits of supporting local artisans and would like to ignite industry change.

QEST funding will allow me to continue my training in couture embroidery, allowing me to strengthen my craft and enable me to find more opportunities to work as a craftsperson fulltime.
