Gillian is a Knitted Textile Designer, currently based in London. Her design handwriting is clean and considered, inspired by colour, texture and composition.
Gillian’s interest in photography is paramount to her work. She loves travelling to unfamiliar areas and will often stop to capture quirky details on walls – finding beauty in delicate concrete textures and layers of paint.
Her QEST Scholarship funded a two year MA at The Royal College of Art where she was able to strengthen her relationship with colour and experiment with garment construction. Her final project ‘Scarlet BR’ was a collection of knitted garments, inspired by trips to the Isle of Skye, the Isle of Mull, Glasgow and London. All of the yarn was hand dyed.
Gillian is currently working for a London based fashion brand as well as maintaining her own design studio.
