Kaja Upelj, an artist with an innovative approach to glass casting, is currently studying for an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art.
Inspired by iridescent colours in nature such as mother of pearl, Kaja has developed an original technique to recreate these hues and present glass as a soft, welcoming material. The method and materials, however, are expensive and toxic. The Corning Museum of Glass in New York is well-equipped for Kaja to develop her luminous glass process safely, and her study there will be supported by her QEST Scholarship.
