Holding both a Gem-A Level 4 in Gemmology from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and a Masters in Conservation of Archaeological and Museum Objects from Durham University, Katie is uniquely placed to make informed treatment choices for historic jewellery collections, ensuring they last as long as possible. As Applied Arts Conservator at the Museum of London, specialising in metals and jewellery, she is responsible for collections of national importance, including the Cheapside Hoard – the greatest single collection of Elizabethan and Stuart jewellery in the world.
With support of a QEST Scholarship, Katie will undertake the Gemmological Association of Great Britain’s Gemmology Diploma course. Following nine months of evening classes, conducted alongside her work at the Museum of London, she will achieve a Level 6 qualification in Gemmology.
