Lisa Lloyd

2025 QEST Scholar - Sculpture, Paper artworks
Brighton and Hove, East Sussex

Lisa Lloyd is a sculptor specialising in intricate, dynamic paper art. Using sheet paper as her primary medium, she creates three-dimensional works inspired by the energy and movement of birds, fish, insects, and the emotional complexities of the human condition. Her work often explores the tension between hope and fear, weaving together natural forms and personal reflection. Over the past year, Lisa has expanded her practice to include a broader range of materials and techniques, incorporating spray paint, watercolours, beads, and mixed media to enrich the texture, depth and impact of her work. Increasingly drawn to scale and experimentation, she seeks to create immersive works that invite dialogue between art, nature and human experience.

With QEST funding, Lisa will train in metalsmithing at the K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery. Her training will cover press and fold forming, soldering, repoussé, patinas, roll printing, enamelling and electroforming. These skills will enable her to create larger, more expressive sculptures including public artworks that incorporate natural materials and inspire connection. Lisa’s ambition is to create works that foster meaningful dialogues about human connection and nature.

I am incredibly thrilled and grateful to begin this new chapter in my creative journey. The support, knowledge, and training I will receive will be invaluable, enabling me to fully realize my potential and broaden both my creative and technical skills.
