Typefounder Nick was originally a musician, before he discovered an interest in type. He began by working for Phil Abel at Hand & Eye Letterpress and has worked on and off at The Type Archive for years.  A QEST Garfield Weston Foundation Scholarship funded a trip to the USA to study with Stan Nelson in the Graphic Arts Collection at The Smithsonian Institute.

Nick set up his own business, Effra Press & Typefoundry in 2016 from which he casts and sells letterpress type, leads and rules, cut typographic punches and offers many other services.
