Rodney Harris

1995 QEST Scholar - Brick Sculpture
Bristol

Sculptor and printmaker Rodney received QEST funding for six months research on brick reliefs with Ibstock Building Products in 1995.  Here he studied manufacturing techniques including mould-making, hand and machine pressing and brickclay preparation. He has subsequently been commissioned by a range of public and private organisations worldwide for brick sculpture, brick relief sculpture and historic building restoration.

Rodney has a long-term collaboration with artist Valda Jackson and in 2017 they won the Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture for “Four Brick Reliefs” at the Peabody St Johns Hill Estate in Clapham.  He was the Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residence at Bristol University, 2014 – 2015 and is an Artist Trustee of Spike Island in Bristol.

I love working with clay and shaping the surface of buildings in unexpected ways.
