Susannah is a designer and embroiderer, who produces luxury pieces of art, decorative cushions/furniture coverings and other textiles for interiors, in her signature style which combines tonal black and white pencil drawing with delicate hand embroidery. With twenty years’ experience in the design industry as a graphic and textile designer, she founded her own studio in 2016, and since then has focused on growing her business and developing her craft.
Inspired by the wildlife in different parts of the country, she is now focusing on her business of creating one-of-a-kind hand-embroidered artworks, which she could use to make limited edition prints. She would also like to produce a collection that draws attention to animals that are close to extinction, raising awareness and helping save endangered species.
Susannah’s QEST Scholarship will fund studies and training at the Royal School of Needlework, covering Jacobean Crewelwork, Blackwork or Canvas Stitch, Silk Shading and Basic Goldwork. These skills will enable her to develop her work as a mixed media artist by giving her the advanced training she needs to create more technical and dramatic art.
