Suzy Merrifield

2005 QEST Wendy Keith Designs Scholar - Knitwear Design
Hampshire

In 2005 Suzy was awarded a QEST Scholarship to develop her skills in traditional knitting, working as an apprentice, PA and design assistant at Wendy Keith Designs. Suzy’s work has since been sold through prestigious retail outlets including Fortnum & Masons and Holland & Holland.  She was honoured to design and produce a cashmere throw to be displayed at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Coronation Festival in 2013.

Suzy now lectures in Art, Design and Fashion at Solent University, alongside studying for a PhD at Suffolk University. Her research interests are in critical art theory and concepts of motherhood in visual culture and her signature style translates powerfully from retail to exhibition space and from wearable pieces to conceptual installations. Suzy’s results-orientated creative philosophy ignites both her own work and that of her clients, to achieve new horizons and touch new audiences.

I love colour and natural fibres. I work with the finest yarns and my work harnesses my enthusiasm for exploring design history, fashion, identity and the way human beings connect and relate to each other.
