Will Kemp

2012 QEST Scholar - Painting

Will is an award-winning professional artist and tutor from the UK.  He studied Fine Art both at Foundation and Degree level, and has subsequently designed education programmes for museums & schools. Will used to run his own art gallery, he has been represented by Demontfort Fine Art and he now teaches absolute beginners how to draw and paint alongside his continued painting practice.

In 2010 he received a QEST Scholarship to study sight-size portraiture in Florence. This was formal training at the highest level, which proved to Will how important good tuition is and how hard it is to come by.

On return from Italy, Will was inspired to create an educational website resource for other artists around the world. He believes that others, who don’t have access to specialist tuition, can also benefit from traditional classical painting skills being passed on.

When I’m painting in my studio, the inspiration for new pieces can come from anywhere and anything, but more often than not, it comes from the painting process itself. I love paint, I love colour and I love teaching people how to paint.
