Yana is a multidisciplinary fashion designer with experience in apparel, print design, textiles, footwear and artisanal techniques. She has an MA in Fashion Design from Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, and has created and run her own fashion brand.
Yana’s scholarship will allow her to pursue an MA Diploma in Textiles at the Royal College of Art to transition from fashion design to textile design-making. She aims to combine traditional craft techniques with sustainable innovations and collaborate with local craftsmen and innovators. The program will focus on textile manipulation, sustainable non-woven fabrics, and exploring ecological systems through cutting-edge technology. Yana also aims to repurpose material debris from the war in Ukraine and challenge traditional knitting and mixed media textiles with a focus on sustainability and waste reduction.
