Introduction to Weaving Workshop with Kendall Clarke, QEST Sanderson Design Co. Scholar (2023)
Join woven textile artist Kendall Clarke for an inspiring introduction to the art of hand weaving. Kendall’s award-winning work has been exhibited internationally, from the UK and Japan to the US, and is recognised for its refined craftsmanship and inventive use of materials. Her process is materials-led and experimental, often exploring paper and paper-like yarns, with an aesthetic shaped by the quiet beauty of Japanese craft traditions.
In this immersive workshop at Cockpit Studios, you’ll experience the rhythm and calm of table loom weaving under Kendall’s expert guidance. With looms pre-prepared, you can dive straight in, learning the essentials of plain weave and twill, and how to combine them to create beautiful patterns. You’ll experiment with yarns, textures and colour to produce a unique woven piece, perfect as a table runner or wall hanging. You’ll take home your finished work, a handout to support your continued practice, and new skills to build on in your weaving journey. A 30–40 minute lunch break is included, with flexibility on timing if needed.
In celebration of QEST’s 35th anniversary, Kendall is generously donating 50% of proceeds from the workshops to support our work funding and championing UK craftspeople.
