Katie Rose has always been drawn to all things exotic and beautiful. She manifests this calling in her self-named label ‘Katei Roze’ taking inspiration from contrasting passions she collides these subjects in her designs with depth, flair and passion.
Katie was awarded her Qest Scholarship to study at the infamous Cordwainers Course at London College of Fashion where she learn to make shoes. Experimenting with fabrics and leathers lead to her making bags to carry her shoe making equipment in. Then on a trip to India KR made her entire luggage set out of an old carpet which people kept asking to buy; which then began her debut collection of bags.
Handmade in Hackney using vintage and recycled fabrics, carpet and high quality leather, these travel companions allow the wearer to express their style with confidence. Her love of India and its striking Designing to the notion that bags should give their owner a sense of protection and purpose as well as contributing to the look of an outfit, Katei Roze offers something which is not available on the high street and is long lasting. These vessels are luxurious; and they speak for themselves. characteristics inform fabric choices and colours. Her curious nature gives the bags edgy dimensions. These bags have an alluring quality, and seduce the wearer.
Without the scholarship KR would not of been able to study her craft and explore the possibilities of accessories design. She is currently working on S/S15 collection to be sold in boutiques as well as her website and ASOS Marketplace where she has a shop. Her next steps are to do a trade show where she can really showcase her work and then begin to expand the label in the footwear.
