Marie Doinne

2017 QEST Ernest Cook Trust Scholar - Bookbinding
Kent

Marie discovered bookbinding while studying for her MA in Fine Arts in Paris. Her enthusiasm for creative bookbinding later developed during her four years managing the bindery of a major printing company in Central London.

Through specialist courses and private tuition on a QEST Scholarship in 2017, Marie received further training in fine binding and gold tooling.  Her binding of Gothic novel Vathek won The Sally Lou Smith Prize for Forwarding (the covering of a book) at The Designer Bookbinders 2018 Competition.

Bookbinding is an amazing framework to explore many creative areas and the possibilities are endless.
