Charlotte is a fully qualified upholsterer with a genuine passion for design. She started her career in fashion and brand licensing before retraining with the Association of Master Upholsterers to follow her passion for furniture and textiles.
In 2013 Charlotte set up her studio in London, Charles of Lloyd Upholstery, which offers services in furniture restoration and bespoke upholstery.
Charlotte is now ready to finesse her skills in traditional upholstery and grow her confidence, offering her clients a contemporary approach to traditional upholstery techniques. As part of her QEST Scholarship, Charlotte will partake in private training from Gareth Rees of Gareth Rees Upholstery Tuition and the British School of Upholstered Furniture. Over 10 months, she will gain a deeper understanding of key techniques such as English and continental stitching, stuffing, springing and exploration of materials.
Charlotte believes that her QEST training will not only enrich her practice, but it will also ensure the longevity and relevance of the craft in the UK’s furniture industry.
