2018 QEST R W Armstrong Scholar - Stone Carving

Emma trained as a stonemason during which time she developed her skills, producing a wide range of masonry for various Grade 1 listed buildings such as Chichester Cathedral, Arundel Castle, Lancing College Chapel and the Royal Brighton Pavilion. She is now specialising in stone carving by studying at City & Guilds. This training will over the course of the three years will improve her observational and supporting practical skills, and in turn enhance her carving ability. She is also a practising artist and plans to continue producing her own artwork and further utilising carving into her practise, working in stone as part of a continuing tradition.
