Enchanted Sea: Sam Lee and Amelia Crowley-Roth chisel the finer details of a Sea Maiden from Portland stone at their studio on the Somerset levels, as they complete one of a pair measuring five meters in height that will adorn the facade of Admiralty Arch later this year looking out onto Trafalgar Square. Restoring the original vision for the early 19th century building by designer Sir Aston Webb ( Buckingham Palace, V&A museum ), the new designs created by Sam Lee of London Stone carving, draw on the influence of 18th century sculptor Thomas Brock, whose style can be seen in the memorials to Queen Victoria in the Mall outside Buckingham Palace and the Titanic outside Belfast city hall.©Russell Sach - 0771 882 6138 -
